and now had Alzheimer's Disease and
could no longer write. He died within
three months. I wondered when he
wrote that he had fallen if that might
not have been the first of his strokes.
About 50 of my customers had standing
orders for everything I published.
So these books were sent out. A dealer
in Los Angeles, one in Fullerton, CA
and one in Tokyo always ordered 5
copies, sometimes 10 or 15.
Announcements were composed, printed
and sent out to other customers.. . . After my 20th book, I finally
decided to conclude this wonderful
hobby.
Publishing these tiny tomes has enhanced
my life immeasurably. A professor
friend from Massachusetts, a customer,
made a computer search last fall and
discovered that over 60 colleges and
universities across the country have
Tamazunchale Press books in Special
Collections. This makes me very proud.
And it pleases me more than I can
tell you to see my Tamazunchale books
displayed so attractively here. The book was printed in only 22 copies,
which were disbursed to a few libraries,
printers and friends.
Iere are a few of the aphorisms:

the maple leaves
turn up.A fat kitchen makes
a lean wil.
Might of, could,
maybe, should.

ADOMEIT
MINIATURES
A memorial tribute in the form of
a miniature book has been produced
by the "graphic design press" of
Bloomington, Indiana, and dated 1996.
The book itself measures 2 1/2 x 1
3/4 inches, contains 16 leaves, and
is entitled Aphorisms and Sayings,
collected chiefly in Monroe and Owen
Counties, Indiana. It is stitched and
bound in light green boards.
The work is dedicated "In memory
of Ruth E. Adomeit, 1910-1996," and
the text was selected by Steve Cape
of the Lilly Library. Steve, a friend
of Ruth's, is the Cataloguer of Rare
Books and Special Collections at the
Lilly, where Ruth's monumental
collection of miniature books now
reside.I'll show you a thief.

in a storm.
Another miniature book dedicated
in Memory of Ruth Adomeit was written
by Audrey Spencer Arellanes. It is
entitled A Collection in a Shoe
Box-Miniature Books About Ex Libris.
Produced by the Bookworm Press of
Alhambra, CA, in 1996, it measures
3 x 2 1/4", and comes bound in blue
wrappers (as a Keepsake Edition,
probably for the Miniature Book Society)
and also in blue leather.
The book is a reprint of an article
from the American Society of Book
