ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
When I started this journey in 2007, I was unsure of where I was going and what I was
doing and so the completion of this journey would not be complete without special thanks and
appreciation to several people. I want to thank my husband Troy, our two daughters Caroline
and Madison, my parents Gary and Lenora Williams, and my brother Stephen Williams.
Without their encouragement and support, I would not of have taken this journey. Next, I want
to thank some of my closest friends, Ted Purcell, Mollie Purcell, and Dr. Marilyn Wright.
Outside of my immediate family, these three individuals encouraged and supported me as well as
provided me with opportunities to learn and discover whom I want to be when I grow up. I also
would like to like to give thanks for support and guidance to the one and only, Dr. C. I want to
thank the rest of my family, friends, and numerous professors who provided me with
encouragement and support along the way. Finally, I want to thank Dr. Huffman for sticking
with me and not giving up on me, considering my journey to this point lasted a long 8 years. As
I am reaching the end of this journey, I still am not sure of what exactly I want to be when I grow
up, but I have a strong sense of direction as to where I am going. I know that this is only the end
of one journey and the beginning of many new ones as a result.iii
