ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
First and foremost, I wish to give thanks to God for the gift of counseling,
and the opportunity to give to others through my education and skills. I offer my
heartfelt thanks and love to my husband, son, and daughters for their support,
patience, and encouragement. Without it, I never could have made it through. To
my mother, I give my sincere love and thanks for teaching me the value of a
'good education', and for setting the example of self-improvement. For my entire
family, thank you for helping me take care of the kids so I could study, and for
your never-ending support. I also appreciate all of my friends and co-workers for
their support and encouragement to keep working at this degree.
At the University of North Texas, I wish to thank my dissertation
committee: Dr. Michael Altekruse, for taking over and making it happen. For
Carolyn Kern, and her incredible enthusiasm for wellness and love for
adolescents. To Dr. Genie Bodenhamer-Davis, for joining the committee willingly
and being so supportive. To Judy Glaser, the one constant during the decade at
UNT. She is the cheerleader supreme, and an important part of each student
who enters Stovall Hall. I also wish to recognize the one who taught me as much
about myself as I learned about how to work with others - Dr. Paula Englander-
Golden. She is magic, and I am forever changed because of her gifts. I am proud
to be receiving my degree from the University of North Texas.iii
