Latin American Art Resources
The paintings, mostly done on sheep hide, depict the customs,
festivals, myths and dreams of indigenous people. The art form
originated with the painting of small drums used in traditional
festivals and ceremonies. Many of the frames are also painted

Los Angeles International Film Festival: A tribute to Mexican cinema.
The American Film Institute (AFI) in association with the Mexican Film Institute
(IMCINE) and the Mexican Consulate, are proud to announce the creation of TRIBUTE
TO CONTEMPORARY MEXICAN CINEMA, a section within the AFI Los Angeles
International Film Festival dedicated entirely to showcasing the best of Mexican
Contemporary Cinema. A total of 8 films will be presented during the two weeks of the
duration of the event. This year's showcase will have its Gala premiere Saturday October
21st.
F1 Mexican Short Films
One-hour special featuring two award-winning short films "Tanto Tiempo" and "Always
Roses" Hosted by Edward James Olmos and Mandy Avila. On NBC 4, Sunday, October
29 at 11:00 am.
"Tanto Tiempo" is a moving story about a young Mexican-American woman, Mia, and
her mother, Luz, who are made to live an American lifestyle in order to "fit in."
Confronted with her past by various means, Mia rediscovers her lost Hispanic heritage
and accepts and welcomes it back into her life. The program stars Mandy Avila as
young Mia, Carrie Barton as Mia, Seidy Lopez as young Luz and Lynn Quintana as Luz.
