trial activity. There have been substantial increases and expansions
of industries throughout this entire area during the last few years,
with resulting increases in employment, consumer expenditure in-
come, and retail sales.
7. Seven standard broadcast stations are now authorized in Fresno.
These stations, their frequencies, power, and hours of operation are
as follows:

Proposed coverage
8. Based on an assumed antenna efficiency of 133 mv./m. un-
attenuated at 1 mile, and the soil conductivities as shown in the Com-
mission's rules, the station proposed by Golden will have, within its
several contours, areas and populations as shown below:
Contour (mv./m.) Population Area (square
miles)
25.-. _ --------------_ 85,086 53

9. All of the Fresno urbanized area is within the 2-mv./m. contour
of the proposed station. Primary service of 2 mv./m. or better is
provided in Fresno during daytime hours of operation by the 7 stand-
ard broadcast stations shown in paragraph 7 above, and also by sta-
tion KNGS, Hanford, Calif.
10. All of the area within the 0.5 mv./m. daytime contour of the
proposed station receives primary service of 0.5 mv./m. or greater
from 6 stations, namely, KMJ, KBIF, and KFRE in Fresno; KNBC
and KCBS in San Francisco; and KNGS in Hanford. In addition,
parts of the area are served by other stations as follows: 3 stations
(KTRB, Modesto; KYNO, Fresno; and KARM, Fresno) serve 76-
99 percent of the area within the proposed Fresno station's 0.5 mv./m.
contour; 3 stations, (KSFO, San Francisco; KGO, San Francisco;
and KGST, Fresno) serve 51-75 percent; 9 stations (KFRC, San
Francisco; KCHJ, Delano; KRDU, Dinuba; KGEN (now KHOT)
Madera; KCOK, Tulare; KMAK, Fresno; KONG, Visalia; KYOS,
Merced; and KWIP, Merced) serve 26-50 percent; and 10 stations
(KAFY, Bakersfield; KBOX (now KBEE) Modesto; KBIS,
Bakersfield; KWSO, Wasco; KGDM (now KRAK) Stockton;
