conjurs up a vision of some poor unfortunate in a sweat-
ss rip ed uniform...busting boulders with agledge
hammer while a red-neck guard with a shotgun keeps a
stern watch.

business, graphically illustrated by Gifford-Hill's new
facility at Bridgeport, Northwest of Fort Worth. The
new plant can grind out three-million-two-hundred-
thousand-tons of rock i annually, making it the
largest such facility in the state. Before operations
bega4, holes were drilled one-hundred-and-ten feet into
the earth near the plant and filled with one-thousand-
pounds of ammonia nitrate. The explosive was detonated
and when the 1 dust cleared, there was a pit full of
rocks. The rocks are loaded aboard aboard trucks and
hauled to a chute, where the cargo is dumped and
