Lory Huitt Masters and Molly Behannon Extra Mile Award 4035 Mendenhall Dallas, TX 75244 Dear Extra Mile Award Committee: One of the primary prejudices that homosexuals face in today's society is the freedom of worship. Rev. Pamela Dountas, and other committed Christians, have made that freedom a reality through the founding of Church of the New Covenant. The church was founded in June 1989, when Pamela acknowledged the need for a place of worship for gay and lesbians in the North Dallas Area. The creation of the church demanded of Pamela much personal sacrifice and commitment. She met every challenge with a love and enthusiasm for the Lord, his work and his people. Pamela's ministry not only reaches members of the church, but anyone in the community who is in need of her help and support. Pamela has received no compensation for all of her efforts in this endeavor. She gives of these freely. In Matthew Chapter 23, one of the Pharisees asked Jesus, "Which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, your soul, and with all your mind. 'This is the first and greatest commandment and the second is like it .. 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' " Every aspect of Pamela's life exemplifies these teachings. Because of her love and commitment to the Lord's work in the gay and lesbian community. The Church of The New Covenant would like to recommend Rev. Pamela Dountas for The Extra Mile Award. Sincerely, Denise Faulkner and Lisa Dalton On behalf of all the members of Church of the New Covenant
