LIBR 634
Library Systems and Information Networks. 3 credit hours.
May 16-20 and 23-27, 1983. 1:00-5:00 p.m. (Monday through Fri-
day, for two weeks). ISB 203. Dr. Katherine Cveljo.This course examines the contemporary phenomenon of network develop-
ment and growth, with attention to all types of library systems and
consortia. Among the topics considered are the information and
bibliographic services offered by networks, their legal bases, poli-
tical setting, and financing and management.
Students will "post-register" for this course on May 30-31, which
constitutes a 3 credit hour enrollment for I Summer, 1983. Course
requirements should be completed by July 6, 1983. Please notify
the SLIS Office if you plan to enroll for the course. Campus
housing is available for those desiring it.
Evening Courses
Summer courses meet twice each week, with evening classes scheduled for
5:45 to 9:45 p.m.

D.J.H.NORTASIS HEARS DR. JOHN ROGERS
Dr. John Rogers of the Institute of Applied Sciences, spoke to the members of
the student chapter of the American Society for Information Science. The topic
of his speech was "An Information System for Biologists." He developed this
information system, which is operated on an Apple III, to retrieve both cita-
tions and facts. ASIS is cross-disciplinary and concerns itself with the
topics of library science, communications, computer science and information
science.
