Meeting Minutes for July 8, 2017
Location: Southern Recipes Grill, 2715 North Collins St., Arlington, TX 76006
I. Call to Order and Posting of Colors - Following fellowship and breakfast, President John
Anderson called the meeting to order at approximately 9:00 a.m.
II. Invocation - By Chaplain Bob Wehr
III. Pledges - Sergeant-at-Arms Bill Covington led the pledge of allegiance to the U.S. flag, the
pledge to the Texas flag, and the SAR pledge.
IV. Introductions of Past Chapter Presidents by President Anderson: Ron Carter - 2011 and
David Friels - 2014.
V. Comment of the Day - Compatriot Dick Lee told a light hearted story we all enjoyed.
VI. Special Recognitions - President John Anderson:
" Arlington Fire Fighter of the year - Certificates and medals were presented to Fire Fighters
Kevin Pittmon and Joel Lopez.
" Compatriot Jerry Cope was presented with a supplemental certificate and star in
recognition of his supplemental Patriot.
" Compatriot Allan Husch was presented with a Military Service Medal for his service in the
U.S. Navy.
" Compatriot Joseph Sogan was presented with a certificate and lapel pin for 25 years of
membership in SAR.
VII. New Member Induction: President Anderson inducted Compatriot John Pinkerton. John
informed us that his Patriot is Private John Pinkerton from Pennsylvania. He served in John
Ramsey's company of Chester County Militia and in the 4th Pennsylvania Line of the Continental
Army. John's guests included wife Barbara Pinkerton, Elaine Mallow, Melissa Pinkerton,
Michael Flaherty, and Chase Flaherty.
VIII. Guest Introductions by President Anderson - John Pinkerton Family; Arlington Fire
Department - Mike W. Self, Warren Muncy, Adrian Rojas, Joel Lopez, and Kevin Pittmon;
Anthony Walker; CAR - Andrew Walker, Jakob and Zack Sogan; Kevin J. Shellman, Joseph
Longoria, Randy Schndz, Bill Goodman; and applicants - Robert Pope and Dan Jones.
IX. Chapter Business - President John Anderson Presiding:
" Approval of last meeting's minutes: The minutes as posted on the website and passed out
during the meeting for review were approved.
" Officer and Committee Reports:
o Secretary David Friels - Kroger Community Rewards has notified us that we will
receive a check in the amount of $43.16 which is our contribution from Kroger for the
past quarter. They noted that this is a result of 8 households shopping at Kroger between
2-26-17 and 5-27-17. Compatriot Friels reminded the chapter that we participate in
programs with Kroger, Albertson's/Tom Thumb, and Amazon Prime. Members who are
not already registered should register. The Kroger Community Rewards should be
renewed in Aug. annually.Page 1 of 3
