Aglavaine et Selysette. Musique de scène

Description: Recording of Annette Vande Gorne's Aglavaine ed Selysette. Musique de scène. This work uses traditional electronic technique to manipulate sound and create a eerie soundscape. The use of sound within the space is truly key within this work. The sounds are all around the stereo system and sometimes sound closer and further away.

Agora

Description: Recording of Natasha Barrett's Agora. This work is an installation and a performance involving electroacoustic music, theatre, and the structural use of space. The theatre version of "Agora" is an event where spatial-music is the structural and theatrical driving force. There is one soprano performer but no "acting out". The work extends the aesthetic of the music theatre of Kagel and the consideration of delineated space defined in Oscar Schlemmer's theory of performance.

Air

Description: Recording of Zlatko Tanodi's Air. This piece was composed for bass clarinet and tape in 1997, and was first performed at the Music Biennale Zagreb festival in 1997 (the soloist for that performance was Ratko Vojtek). The composer's inspiration was the polysemy of the word air (air, atmosphere, area, aria, song with accompaniment). The motto of the whole work is a paraphrase of the concept of “air you were, air you are, and into air you shall return;” sound is treated as a special physical condi… more

Airwaves (realities)

Description: Airwaves (realities) deal with the highly subjective concept of reality. One of the most striking close-at-hand examples to me is the contrast between the desert people of Nevada and the San Francisco Bay Area dwellers. The diverging idea of reality is partially due to difference in population density and ethnic make-up, with the extreme physical contrast of the desert versus the lushness of the Bay Area being a contribution factor. The video, which I shot for this piece, shows desert landscape… more
