Characterization of the Specificity of DNA Uptake and Transformation by Naturally Competent Acinetobacter Calcoaceticus

Description: Although cultures of A. calcoaceticus BD413 are naturally competent at all growth phases, genetic markers can only be successfully transformed by DNA from the genus Acinetobacter. Transformation frequencies of nearly 1.2% were obtained with pcaA mutants were incubated in liquid culture with wild-type DNA.

A Comparison of Universal Soil Loss Equation Results Using a Remote Sensing/GIS Technique to Results Obtained Using a Field Survey Technique

Description: Digital satellite remote sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) have been used in conjunction with the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) to model soil erosion potential within watersheds. This study compared erosion estimates calculated by the remote sensing method to results obtained in the field by soil conservationists using conventional methods.

Determination of the Complete Nucleotide Sequence of the xylZ Region of the Pseudomonas Putida TOL Plasmid pDK1, Encoding a Subunit of the Toluate Oxidase Complex

Description: A 1.57 kb XhoI restriction fragment derived from the TOL plasmid pDKI was subcloned into the E. Coli plasmid pUC19. The complete nucleotide sequence of this XhoI fragment was determined using both the chemical cleavage and chain termination DNA sequencing methods.

Ethical reasoning and risk propensity: a comparison of hospital and general industry senior executives

Description: This research explores whether differences in ethical reasoning levels exist between senior hospital managers and top level general industry executives. Similar comparisons are made between not-for-profit hospital managers and their peers in for-profit hospitals. Gustav Mahler's use and cyclic integration of motivic and thematic quotations

Description: All of Mahler's works may be divided into four distinct chronological groups, referred to as "symphonic cycles." Motives and themes from the songs within each symphonic cycle were quoted in symphonies in the same cycle.
