Variational Wave Function for Sodium

Description: The practical method of applying the variation principle to the calculation of the energy of an atom demands a trial function which contains variable parameters. The previous work done using this approach was based on the use of some combination of hydrogenic wave functions containing parameters inserted in appropriate places. The present calculation of the energy of the eleven-electron atom has been brought about using this method.

Description: It is a broad function of this thesis to provide the commodity world with a new and valuable informational tool. This thesis shows quarterly prices for a ten year period 1940 through 1949, on fifty major commodities, giving in each case the actual cash price and the cash price adjusted to the purchasing power of the 1926 dollar. This adjusted price is a statistically derived relative price and for the purposes of this study is called a constant dollar value.
