"The problem involved in this study is to determine the status of the live-at-home program of typical veteran farm families in the Aubrey, Texas, area with the view of providing an adequate diet for preschool and school-age children. An adequate diet, which is used for comparison, has been set up by the home demonstration agents of the Texas Extension Service...Recommendations are made to show how the average veteran farm family maybe supplement the present substandard dietary level with farm-produced foods...Data for this study have been procured and organized from a survey of twenty representative veteran farm families in the Aubrey, Texas, area. Personal contacts in the form of visits in the home at least once a month for twelve months in 1949 were made to assist the veterans in recording farm and home income and expenses." -- leaf 1.

In undertaking this study the investigator had the following purposes: 1. To determine the percentage of the college women of the study who are cigarette smokers. 2. To determine the percentage of the college men of the study who are cigarette smokers. 3. To determine the carious habits of the students who participated in the study in regard to cigarette smoking. 4. To determine the students' reasons for smoking cigarettes. 5. To determine the opinions and attitudes of the students of the study in regard to cigarette smoking. 6. To compare the women students with the men students of the study in regard to cigarette smoking on the basis of the data obtained.

An Evaluative Study to Determine the Present Status of the Administration of Public Recreation in Denton, Texas, with a Proposed Plan for Future Development
The purpose of this study was to determine to what extent the public recreation of Denton under the present administrative setup is serving the needs of the citizenship of Denton. Various agencies affording recreation for their own members or sponsoring recreation activities affecting other inhabitants of Denton were surveyed to determine the present status of administration of public recreation in Denton. The results of the survey were compared with standards set up by the National Recreation Association for cities the size of Denton. From a comparison of the present status and the standards, an effort was made to formulate a basis of administration that would be sound and business-like, well co-ordinated, and consistent with good governmental practice.
In Vitro Determination of the Cellulose-Decomposing Rates of Twelve Denton County, Texas Soils
In this study twelve types of top soil were collected under aseptic conditions. The cellulose-decomposing rates of these were compared in order to determine the relative rates in the cellulose-decomposing potential of the microorganisms involved. Furthermore, this investigation is designed to acquire pertinent information on the rate at which natural cellulose materials are returned to available plant food.

The Operation of the T Formation in Football at North Texas State College
The author undertook to present the system of football used by North Texas from 1940 through 1950, the T formation, which he has used since 1941. The purpose of the study was to present the T formation as we use it, in the system of football we endeavor to coach. The problem of this study is to evaluate the public school music program in the following seven independent schools of Denton County: Denton, Pilot Point, Sanger, Krum, Ponder, Northwest, and Lewisville. The Value of High-School Marks and Psychological Examination Scores in Predicting First Term Freshmen Marks in North Texas State College
The purpose of this study is to determine how accurately the academic success of one hundred and sixty-seven freshmen at North Texas State College could have been predicted by the American Council on Education Psychological examinations. The question studied is: Can freshman success, as indicated by first term freshman grades, be better predicted by psychological examination scores than by analysis of their high school grades? In an attempt to answer this question, the relationships existing between the high school grades, psychological examination scores and first term college grades of the freshman class entering North Texas State College in the fall of 1949 have been studied.
