The Heart of Librarianship: A Topical Literature Review of Outreach in Academic Libraries

Description: This literature review provides an overview of outreach in academic libraries over the last five years. The review aims to centralize the common activities and general purposes of outreach while also bringing emphasis to more strategic outreach efforts such as the incorporation of learning outcomes and assessment into outreach. The review also provides commentary on how outreach can be used to affect information literacy and research.

Deep Submicron Extended-Gate Field-Effect (EGFET) Based on Transistor Association Technique for Chemical Sensing

Description: This article investigates the design and characterization of a transistor association (TA)-based extended-gate field-effect transistor (EGFET). Diffusion Entropy vs. Multiscale and Rényi Entropy to Detect Progression of Autonomic Neuropathy

Description: This article reviews the literature to argue the importance of the occurrence of crucial events in the dynamics of physiological processes. Crucial events are interpreted as short time intervals of turbulence, and the time distance between two consecutive crucial events is a waiting time distribution density with an inverse power law (IPL) index µ, with µ < 3 generating non-stationary behavior.

Effect of amorphous cellulose on the deformation behavior of cellulose composites: molecular dynamics simulation

Description: This article is a study aimed at predicting and enhancing the properties of the blend, as well as exploring the mechanism, of a polylactic acid (PLA)/amorphous cellulose composite system through molecular characterization. The static properties of the amorphous cellulose/PLA blend model and the mechanical response of the material under uniaxial tension were studied by molecular dynamics simulation to establish the structure–property relationship.

Text Mining for Automatic Image Tagging

Description: This paper introduces several extractive approaches for automatic image tagging, relying exclusively on information mined from texts. Through evaluations on two datasets, the authors show that their methods exceed competitive baselines by a large margin, and compare favorably with the state-of-the-art that uses both textual and image features.
