The election campaign turned
sour when candidate Patrick
Dyer was accused of academic
dishonesty and again when his
running mate Tiffany Bonner
was disqualified from the race
because new legislation passed
during the semester requiring
candidates to be an SGA mem-
ber for at least one full semester
before seeking office.
Dyer responded to the accu-
sation by calling the incident in
question a "misunderstanding."
He also declared Jenna O'Brien
his new running mate.
However, more trouble
brewed when candidate Thomp-
son accused candidate Dyer of
violating election code by cam-
paigning within 100 feet of a
polling site during election week.

modified version of theoriginal Athletic Fee. The
new fee would be $3 per
credit hour, to be capped at
15 hours or $45 and would
only go to making UNT

pliance, then it could lead
to a civil law suit or with-
drawal ofgovernment fund-
for the fee to be imple-
mented for the Fall 2002.
SGA was able act in this
manner because, according
to Texas law, an increase instudent fees can only take
effect by a majority vote of
the student body or a ma-
jority vote by the student
government association.
After the newAthletic Fee

Board of Regents, many stu-
