NT falls short
of donation
goal
On October 16, 17, 1984 and
April 16, 17, 1985, Wadley Blood
Bank held its two annual blood
drives, in the Silver Eagle Suite of
the University Union.
Both semester's goals were
1000 pints collected. In the fall,
920 pints were donated and 186
potential donors were turned
away because of health reasons.
The spring semester's total was
even further below the goal at 727
pints, roughly 3 percent of the stu-
dent enrollment. Again, because
of various health reasons, 111 po-
tential donors were turned away.
The below-par turnout resulted
despite many numerous group in-
centives offered to encourage or-
ganized donation.
The blood donated at NTSU ad-
ded to an account at Wadley
Blood Bank which is supplied free
when needed by the students, staff
and faculty of North Texas State
as well as their families.
Requirements for donating
blood were: the donor must be in
good health, 18 years of age and
at least 110 pounds.Student volunteers, like freshman Debbie Palmer, talk to and console donors during the
donation process (top). Junior Valerie Traham stops the bleeding by applying pressure.28/Student Life
