the end of the project, and not as part of any homework assignment. Five questions
were asked to assist students in the completion of this task. The tables in this section
provide a summary of students' responses to three of those questions; Item 1 from Task
14 (Table 16), Item 2 from Task 14 (Table 17), and Item 5 from Task 14 (Table 18).
In Item 1, participants were asked the following question: "Compared to the
beginning of the semester before you had started this project, how much more likely are
you now. . . to consider the possibility of visiting a French-language Web forum?" In
order to respond to this question, participants were asked to choose an answer from
five available options, listed here in the order they appear on the document:
a. Not at all more likely
b. Not much more likely
c. Neither more nor less likely
d. Somewhat more likely
e. A lot more likely
Results from Task 14, Item 1 are shown in Table 16 below. A closer look at the
results indicates that of the 26 students who participated in the project, only 13 (half)
participated in this activity. Participants whose IDs appear with an asterisk did not
complete this task. One student selected Option a indicating that they were not at all
more likely to consider the possibility of visiting a French-language Web forum after the
completion of the project. One other student was not much more likely to do so (Option
b). Three students stated they were neither more nor less likely to consider this
possibility (Option c). Four students stated they were somewhat more likely to consider
this possibility (Option d) and four more students were a lot more likely to consider the61
