Consistent Properties of Composite Formation Under a Binary Relation

Description: In this paper we study the properties of a relation, H, between two sets, X and Y, H ⊆ X x Y. We wish to determine when the existence of H between some elements of X and Y implies the existence of H between other composite elements of X and Y. The aim is to characterize a relation by its extension or restriction to composite elements.

Stress Corrosion Cracking in Uranium-Molybdenum Alloys

Description: An investigation was conducted to determine the cause of cracking, during tension, on the surface of tensile specimens of U--Mo alloys. The cracking was observed in alloys that were water quenched from a temperature range in which the body-centered cubic gamma phase was stable and, subsequently, stressed in tension. Thermally Activated Dislocation Motion in FCC and Refractory BCC Metals

Processing of High-Fired Uranium Dioxide Fuels by a Reduction-Mercury Extraction-Oxidation Process

Description: A preliminary flowsheet for the purification of uranium dioxide fuels by a magnesium reduction-- mercury extraction-- steam oxidation process is proposed. Feasibility was indicated by laboratory-scale scouting experiments. Data evaluation indicated 100% reduction of uranium dioxide by magnesium although this figure was not demonstrated, chiefly because of poor choice of materials and design of equipment. Protection Against Fallout Radiation in a Simple Structure

Description: A reinforced Butler building was exposed to fallout from Shots Diablo and Shasta, and the resulting dose rates and fallout deposition inside and outside the structure were measured with various instruments and techniques. Protection factors and roof and ground contributions to the total dose rates at points within the structure were determined from the measurements. Microwave Impedance Measurements and Standards

Description: Report presenting a survey and discussion of well-known microwave impedance measurement techniques. The discussion includes an introduction which emphasizes basic concepts and reflection coefficient-voltage standing-wave ratio relationships. Sources of error in the various measurement techniques are discussed and methods to reduce errors are presented. Methods using rotating loops and resonance lines are included and a brief discussion of microwave impedance standards is given.
