Off-Design Performance of Divergent Ejectors

Description: "The off-design performance of fixed- and of variable-geometry divergent ejectors was investigated. The ejectors, which were designed for turbojet operation at Mach 3, were investigated in the Mach number range of 0.8 to 2. The performance of a fixed-geometry ejector with high secondary-flow rates was competitive with that of more complex variable-geometry ejectors. Variable-geometry ejectors with compromises to reduce mechanical complexity produced performance reasonably close to that of an id… more

Nuclear Battery-Thermocouple Type Third Quarterly Report for July 1, 1957 to September 30, 1957

Description: A second thermoelectric generator consisting of unitized rings of thermopiles was designed and constructed. Three and four rings were asserabled into generators and tested. A maximum efficiency of 0.67% was obtained. At a DELTA T of 400 deg C, an efficienty of 0.56% was obtained; the theoretical maximum for the materials used is 0.83%. (auth)

Respiratory Pathways in Fungi and Actinomycetes

Description: Conducted from January 1, 1956 to June 30, 1959. The major effort has been to determine if any of the various proposed methods for the analysis of the differential contribution of competing respiratory pathways can be applied reproducibly to the problem of what shifts in metabolism occur when a resting spore of a fungus begins growth. This has involved comparison of spores in different states by a variety of methods.
