Heidi

Description: Early edition of Heidi by Johanna Spyri. The cover is white with the title in red writing, the author's name in blue, and red boxes around the title and illustration. The illustration is of Heidi and her grandfather going down a mountain in a sled. Heidi is wrapped in a red blanket while her grandfather holds on to her. In the background are snow covered evergreen trees. In the book are colored illustrations, one of which is Heidi walking down a path into town with her grandfather.

Leather shoes

Description: Pair of pumps of black leather. The shoes are designed with pointed toe and plain leather upper. The 2" heel is of modified Louis style, covered with black leather and flaring at base. Retailer label: "Sanger Brothers / Dallas - Waco" Measurements: Length 24cm. Width 7cm. Height 13cm. Heel 5cm, 2in.

[Booklet: WWI Army Division Insignia Information]

Description: Booklet that details different army divisions serving under Pershing's American Expeditionary Forces in World War I, complete with maps and insignias. The booklet includes color chromolithographic printing on the cover and illustrations throughout of each insignia paired with descriptive text in a list format. The booklet was published in 1919 through the training and staging camp stationed at Fort Dix in New Jersey.

[Letter from Victor Lauderdale to his father J.R Lauderdale, May 11, 1919]

Description: Letter from Victor Lauderdale to his father on American YMCA Stationary, dated May 11, 1919. The letter is brief and informs his father of a letter he enclosed for his mother in celebration of mothers day despite her death with the sentiment "We were with her in life; even so in death we shall be with her." He goes on to mention a trip to Belgium that he is contemplating taking before he comes back to the states.

The seven page letter addresses a reflective dialogue frequently mentioning God, religion, obedience and guidance about his experiences in the Army and at war. The letter is written on stationary provided by the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA).

Description: Single page of American Red Cross Stationary with English and French writing covering June 26th and 27th, 1919. Beaded purse

Description: Circular handbag of blue, red, brown, and orange glass beads in circular patterns; beaded fringe of self. Tortoise shell frame and plunger closure with plastic press button catch. Beaded silk ribbon carry strap. Scalloped sides and bottom. Burgundy silk lining (shattering). Rectangular mirror in snap closed cover enclosed in bag. Measurements: Approximately 22.5 cm across widest part of bag.

Blue cotton purse

Description: Purse of midnight blue cotton velvet with pewter cathedral frame in filigree leaves/vine motif. Chain of pewter colored metal; flip closure matching frame with velvet pull tab. Gathered base with crochet ball and chenille tassel accent. Lining of yellow satin (deteriorated); built in change purse section on axel with ball twist closure and metal frame. No labels. Measurements: Width: 7 1/2" Height: 9", without handle Height: 17 1/2", with handle Depth: 2"
