Multimodal and multiscale strengthening mechanisms in Al-Ni-Zr-Ti-Mn alloy processed by laser powder bed fusion additive manufacturing

Description: Article describes how the unique thermokinetics of laser-powder bed fusion additive manufacturing has been exploited for development of a novel high strength Al-Ni-Ti-Zr-Mn alloy. The authors say that the addition of 0.5 wt% Mn leads to extraordinary improvement in ultimate tensile strength (502 MPa) and work hardening due to the activation of two Mn-induced strengthening mechanisms

Mesenchymal stem cells aligned and stretched in self-assembling peptide hydrogels

Description: Article describes how the presented research highlights a novel approach using fmoc-protected peptide hydrogels for the encapsulation and stretching of mesenchymal stem cells. Surface Nanostructures Enhanced Biocompatibility and Osteoinductivity of laser-Additively Manufactured CoCrMo Alloys

Experimental Validation of Diffraction Lithography for Fabrication of Solid Microneedles

Correlating work hardening with co-activation of stacking fault strengthening and transformation in a high entropy alloy using in-situ neutron diffraction

Description: Article using in-situ neutron diffraction to correlate SF strengthening to work hardening behavior in a low SFE Fe40Mn20Cr15Co20Si5 (at%) high entropy alloy, SFE ~ 6.31 mJ m−2. Insights into the mechanisms controlling the residual corrosion rate of borosilicate glasses

Description: Article examining the glass durability and residual rate of borosilicate glass. Genome-Resolved Proteomic Stable Isotope Probing of Soil Microbial Communities Using 13CO2 and 13C-Methanol
