Leptoquark searches at the Tevatron

Description: The authors report on searches for leptoquarks using approximately 100 pb {sup -1} of data collected by CDF and DO during Run I at the Tevatron. They also present searches for resonantly-produced leptoquarks that arise in technicolor models. Prospects for future leptoquark searches using Run II data are also discussed.

Contaminant-Organic Complexes, Their Structure and Energetics in Surface Decontamination Processes

Description: There are many compounds that are naturally occurring biodegradable organic chelates (siderophores) and appear to be more effective at oxide dissolution and actinide complexation than ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) or other organic acids currently used in decontamination processes. Molecular dynamic simulations of the lithium coordination environment in phosphate glasses

Description: A molecular dynamics (MD) study of the lithium ultraphosphate glass series, xLi{sub 2}O{center_dot}(1{minus}x)P{sub 2}O{sub 5} (0 {le} x < 0.5) was used to investigate the changes in the Li environment with increasing modifier concentration. The results from the MD simulations indicate that no major structural variations in the Li coordination environment are observed. Explicit SO(10) supersymmetric grand unified model

Description: A complete set of Higgs and matter superfields is introduced with well-defined SO(10) properties and U(1) x Z{sub 2} x Z{sub 2} family charges from which the Higgs and Yukawa superpotentials are constructed. Review of ion beam therapy: Present and Future

Description: First therapy efforts at the Bevalac using neon ions took place in the 70's and 80's. Promising results led to construction of HIMAC in Chiba Japan, and more recently to therapy trials at GSI. Both these facilities are now treating patients with carbon beams. Advances in both accelerator technology and beam delivery have taken place at these two centers. Plans are well along for new facilities in Europe and Japan.
