Off-Site Radiological Safety Report, Carlsbad, New Mexico

Description: A summary ls presented of the off-slte radiological safety actlvities of the U. S. Public Health Service during the Project Gnome operation. Topics dlscussed include: operational procedures; collection of data by aerial monltoring, mobile monitoring, potash mlne surveys, air sampling, milk sampllng, water sampling, soil and vegetation sampllng, and a film badge program; laboratory control, emergency measures; medlcal services; and veterinary activltles. It was concluded that no persons ln the vlclnlty of the Gnome test site recelved harmful amounts of radlation either lnternally or externally. (M.C.G.)

Description: Pillbox hat of finely woven white straw. The cylindrical crown is flat at top and slopes slightly at sides. Around sides of crown is wide band of off-white organdy, which is tied as a large bow at front. The hat is unlined, with inner white grosgrain ribbon hatband. Retailer's label: "Neiman-Marcus".

The Cherokee Indians in the American Revolution

Description: It has been the purpose of this study to look closely at the history of Cherokee relations with the European powers and ascertain the reasons for the Indians' rarely severed loyalty to the British crown. The writer has attempted to determine the causes for ineffective Cherokee resistance to the westward movement of American settlers and absence of offensive action during the Revolution.
