6.70 EV Resonance in U²³⁸

Description: "Using the Brookhaven fast chopper, transmission curves were obtained for the 6.70 +/- .06 ev resonance in U238 using four different thicknesses of natural uranium metal." The measurements for the transmission curves are summarized in the table provided.

1A Reactor Inlet Hydraulic Valve Position Detector Temperature. Section I. Core I, Seed 1. Test Results DL-S-258-S, RNI-3

Description: The purpose of the test was to determine the internal temperature of the valve position detector for the 1A reactor inlet hydraulic valve with the plant at normal pressure and temperature and at power. The normal operating temperatures for the valve position detector on the 1A reactor inlet hydraulic valve range from a minimum of 287 F to a maximum of 294.7 F.

Acid-Base Reactions and Kinetics of the Halates in Fused Nitrates

Description: From Abstract : "The mechanism of the reactions of the halates, bromate, chlorate, and iodate, with dichromate in fused alkali nitrates has been shown to involve a fast equilibrium followed by a slow rate determining strip to give oxygen and halogen gases as final products." Experiments outlined serve as insight into the structure of fused salts or fused electrolytes.

The Activity Coefficient of Plutonium(IV) Salts in Acidic Solutions

Description: Summary: The activity coefficient of Pu(Cl04)4 was measured in perchloric acid solutions. The procedure used was to measure the extraction of the neutral plutonium(IV)-TTA chelate into benzene-TTA solutions at different perchloric acid concentrations. Equations are presented which show the relation of the extraction coefficients, obtained in the above manner, to the activity coefficient of plutonium(IV) per-chlorate. The activity coefficient of Pu(Cl0~)4 is similar to that of a strong acid, e.… more

Advanced Designs and Special Applications for Fast Breeders

Description: The purpose of this paper is to describe a few of the suggested advanced concepts for fast breeder reactors and to compare these with the standard approach as to their potential advantage. I have attempted to estimate the economic effect of full technical success with each of the proposed concepts. The proposed concepts include: (1) single sodium system, (2) steam-cooled core concept, (3) direct cycle reactor using potassium as reactor coolant and working fluid, (4) molten plutonium-fuel alloy… more

Aerial Radiometric and Magnetic Reconnaissance Survey of Portions of Arizona -- New Mexico: Final Report, Volume 1. Instrumentation and Methods

Description: From introduction: Major objectives of the National Uranium Resource Evaluation (NURE) program, sponsored by the Department of Energy (DOE), are to develop an authoritative, comprehensive assessment of the nation's uranium resources and to provide industry with data and technology useful for the timely discovery and exploitation of uranium ores (ERDA, 1976). The National Aerial Radiometric Reconnaissance Survey is a major element of the NURE program.

Aerial Radiometric and Magnetic Reconnaissance Survey of the Delta Quadrangle, Utah: Final Report, Volume 1. Narrative and Tables

Description: From approach: This survey consisted of aerial gamma-ray spectrometer and magnet-meter data collection including: (1) Coverage of those portions of the Delta, Utah NTMS 1:250,000 scale quadrangle (Figure 1-1) which were not surveyed in 1976 under Bendix Field Engineering Corporation subcontract No. 76-019-L, Texas Instruments (1977a). (2) Reflights of portions of the 1976 flight lines which were out of altitude specifications. (3) Extra flight lines over the 1976 survey area to provide complete… more
