Construction and characterization of superhydrophobic wood coatings using one-step technique

Description: Article describes how this study was aiming at enhancing the stain resistance and durability of varnish on wood surfaces, a super hydrophobic solution was created by blending the synthetic ZIF-8/paraffin with Hexadecyltrimethoxysilane at a specified mass ratio. This superhydrophobic mixture was then directly applied onto the wood varnish coating using a one-step method.

The joint effects of litigation risk and regulation on non-GAAP reporting

Description: This article examines the joint effects of litigation risk and regulation in shaping firms’ financial reporting decisions. The authors employ a plausibly exogenous shock to litigation risk based on a US circuit court ruling to explore how litigation risk influences firms’ non-GAAP earnings disclosures.

Lipid Droplets: Packing Hydrophobic Molecules Within the Aqueous Cytoplasm

Description: Article discusses how lipid droplets, also known as oil bodies or lipid bodies, are plant organelles that compartmentalize neutral lipids as a hydrophobic matrix covered by proteins embedded in a phospholipid monolayer. The authors review the growing body of knowledge about lipid droplets in plant cells, describe the evolutionary similarity and divergence in their associated subcellular machinery, and point to gaps that deserve future attention.

Memory in Uncertainty: Web Preservation in the Polycrisis - A New Design Congress Report

Description: This report was shared in relation to a presentation for the IIPC General Assembly and Web Archiving Conference held on May 10-12, 2023 in Hilversum, Netherlands. This report presents the findings of a study by The New Design Congress to investigate web archive practices, tools, integrity, and security. Their research finds that the field of web archiving and its landscape of tools and institutions are out of step with the realities of rising instability and complexity of the 21st century.
