6.70 EV Resonance in U²³⁸

A 704 Program for Computing Thermal Neutron Spectra in Infinite Homogenous Media

Description: A flexible program has been prepared for solution of the neutron balance equation in an infinite homogeneous medium. This program is specifically designed for studying the effects of varying the energy transfer kernel on the resultant neutron spectrum. A rapidly converging iterative procedure is employed. The equation to be solved and the specific input information required by the program in order to compute spectra are explicitly stated. No discussion of the physics of the problem is given.

Acid-Base Reactions and Kinetics of the Halates in Fused Nitrates

Description: From Abstract : "The mechanism of the reactions of the halates, bromate, chlorate, and iodate, with dichromate in fused alkali nitrates has been shown to involve a fast equilibrium followed by a slow rate determining strip to give oxygen and halogen gases as final products." Experiments outlined serve as insight into the structure of fused salts or fused electrolytes.

The Activity Coefficient of Plutonium(IV) Salts in Acidic Solutions

Description: Summary: The activity coefficient of Pu(Cl04)4 was measured in perchloric acid solutions. The procedure used was to measure the extraction of the neutral plutonium(IV)-TTA chelate into benzene-TTA solutions at different perchloric acid concentrations. Analog Stimulation of HRP In-Pile Slurry Loop Facility in the LITR

Description: An analog simulation is made of the HRP in-pile slurry loop in the LITR. The radiolytic gas pressure in the pressurizer is determined. This pressure is a result of the generation of radiolytic gas in the loop core. Analysis of Thorex Pilot Plant Radiation Exposures During 1955

Description: The Thorex Pilot Plant at Oak Ridge National Laboratory was operated during 1955, processing reactor-irradiated thorium slugs to recover U233 and thorium and 12 MTR fuel elements to recover U235 and Np237. The Anodizing of Zirconium

Description: Five continuous coatings were produced on zirconium coupons using an anodizing technique. These layers appear to be quite adherent and not subject to visible or audible failure caused by flaxion of the basis metal, Their abrasion resistance, though not investigated thoroughly, appears to be moderately good.
