Fatty Acid Amide Hydrolases and Chemical Communication in Plants

Description: Research seeking to understand how an evolutionarily-conserved group of plant enzymes utilizes chemical signals to regulate growth and to influence their microbial environment. Specific research aims include the discovery of new enzymes and their substrate molecules that act as communication signals. Broader applications of this research may offer new strategies to enhance agricultural outputs by manipulating plant-microbe interactions in crop and soil systems.

IUCRC Planning Grant University of North Texas: Center for Electric, Connected and Autonomous Technologies for Mobility (eCAT)

Description: Research concentrating on interdisciplinary research, aiming to initiate and accelerate the transformation of mobility methods from conventional vehicles to electric, connected and autonomous vehicles by creating innovative electric, connected and autonomous technologies. The grant will create the Center for Electric, Connected and Autonomous Technologies for Mobility (eCAT). A partnership between Wayne State University (WSU), University of North Texas (UNT), and Clarkson University (Clarkson), the center not only serves as an apparatus of academic researchers collaborating with industry on important problems, but also provides industry partners opportunities to access advanced synergic research produced from a diverse group of researchers.

The presentation reflects on Waybourn's involvement in gay rights and AIDS activism nationally and in Dallas, Texas. An additional slide, written on July 29, 2020, was included shortly before the presentation was donated to UNT Special Collections that reflects on the parallels between the mismanagement of the AIDS epidemic of the 1980s and 1990s and the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic health crisis.

Hydroxychloroquine Twitter Dataset

Description: This dataset contains Twitter JSON data for several Twitter search queries that were collected related to the drug hydroxychloroquine and its relationship as an effective coronavirus treatment. This dataset was created to capture the opinions on Twitter after a group of people calling themselves "America’s Frontline Doctors" released a video sharing misleading claims about the virus and the drugs use as an effective treatment. This dataset was created using the twarc (https://github.com/DocNow/twarc) package that makes use of Twitter's search API. A total of 4,187,890 Tweets and 15,779 media files make up the combined dataset.
