Engineering transverse cell deformation of bamboo by controlling localized moisture content

Description: Article demonstrates that controlling localized moisture gradients enables natural bamboo to be reshaped into high‑performance three‑dimensional structures by inducing directional water transport and shifting internal stresses toward inner layers. Article shows that the resulting 3D‑molded bamboo retains its heterogeneous architecture while achieving exceptional strength, impact resistance, and major carbon‑emission reductions, offering a sustainable pathway for engineering advanced structural … more

High-Potential Hypervalent Antimony(V) Porphyrin–C60 Conjugates: Excitation Energy Transfer Dominates over Reductive Electron Transfer

Description: Article reports the synthesis of high‑potential antimony(V) porphyrin-fullerene conjugates designed to create an unusual excited-state energy landscape in which the charge-separated (porphyrin)•-C60•+ state lies energetically between the porphyrin and fullerene singlet states. Time-resolved spectroscopy reveals ultrafast singlet-singlet energy transfer to the C60 unit, with calculated Förster rates matching experimental behavior, indicating that direct energy transfer dominates over charge‑sepa… more

Approaching Electroencephalographic Pathological Spikes in Terms of Solitons

Description: This article hypothesize that some of the electric oscillations detectable by scalp electroencephalography could be assessed in terms of solitons. The authors argue that solitons bear striking similarities with the electric activity recorded from medical conditions like epilepsies and encephalopathies.

Boosting radio frequency radiation with collisional processes in picosecond laser filamentation

Description: This article states that when focused in air, ultrashort pulse lasers generate a plasma that produces ultrabroadband radio frequency (RF) radiation via both ponderomotive and plasma wake field current mechanisms. The authors have performed experiments with high energy pulses and pulse durations up to 5 ps, while holding the power constant.
