A Computer Program for the Kinetic Treatment of Radiation-Induced Simultaneous Chemical Reactions

Description: "WR16, a program written in 3600-FORTRAN for a CDC-3600 digital computer, calculates, as a function of time, the concentrations of all the species taking part in the simultaneous first- and second-order chemical reactions occurring during and after exposure to ionizing radiations occurring during and after exposure to ionizing radiation of any chemical system (for example, an aqueous solution). Homogeneous reaction kinetics is assumed for the computation. The variation of electrical conductivit… more

A Computer Program for the Optimization of Organic-Cooled D$sub 2$O Reactors

Description: The portion of the Cost Optimization Program, COP, that is used to design and calculate costs for organic-cooled, heavy-water-moderated power reactor plants is coded in FORTRAN II for an IBM 704 computer. The code is applicable for power reactor plants with electrical outputs of 300, 500, or 1000 MWe. The main features of the code include: (1) an automatic design of concentric fuel tubes of either UO$sub 2$ or UC including the calculaion of the operating conditions of the fuel assembly and a de… more

Earth sciences waste disposal investigations, July--December 1965

Description: The Hanford Project has over 500 wells which are used for the surveillance of radionuclides in the ground resulting from waste disposal. Wells are located at disposal sites to monitor the migration of radionuclides in the soil and to determine when a disposal facility is to be abandoned. Outside of the immediate disposal areas, wells are sampled to determine the movement of contaminants in the ground water zone. The spread of wastes in unconfined ground water aquifers is followed by routine sam… more
