Flibe Coolant Cleanup and Processing in the HYLIFE-II Inertial Fusion Energy Power Plant

Description: In the HYLIFE-II chamber design, a thick flowing blanket of molten-salt (Li{sub 2}BeF{sub 4}) called flibe is used to protect structures from radiation damage. Since it is directly exposed to the fusion target, the flibe will absorb the target debris. A New IAB Lab Iron Meteorite from China

Description: Dr. W. Wei, at UCSD, provided our laboratory with chips from a suspected iron meteorite. The mass (>10 kg) was found approximately 8 northwest of Zhongshan in Guangxi province by a farmer in his fields. This mass has now been identified as an IAB iron meteorite (provisional name Zhongshan No.1) based on its composition, N signature, and petrographic analysis. Hanford Site Groundwater Monitoring for Fiscal Year 2000

Description: This report presents the results of groundwater and vadose zone monitoring and remediation for fiscal year 2000 on the U.S. Department of Energy's Hanford Site, Washington. The most extensive contaminant plumes are tritium, iodine-129, and nitrate, which all had multiple sources and are very mobile in groundwater. The Stacktail Magic Numbers

Description: This note will tabulate the desired phase and delay offsets for a Stacktail Momentum beam transfer function measurement as a function of beam energy and pickup leg. These phase and delay offsets were computed from beam transfer functions made around April 14, 2000. The StackTail system with these offsets will have a gain slope of about 10 MeV.

Description: A careful measurement of the system noise performance for all 12 Debuncher stochastic cooling systems has been performed. The opportunity to make the measurement was due to a pickup tank warm up to fix a bad preamplifier. Core Sampling in Support of the Vadose Zone Transport Field Study

Description: Over 130 soil samples were collected from three soil borings in support of the VZFTS. The first boring was sampled just prior to the first injection test. The other two borings were sampled after completion of the injection tests. Description: The objective of the study was to determine the minimum tank size for the Cold Test Facility process testing of Hanford tank waste. Material Balance Assessment for Double-Shell Tank Waste Pipeline Transfer

Description: PNNL developed a material balance assessment methodology based on conservation of mass for detecting leaks and mis-routings in pipeline transfer of double-shell tank waste at Hanford. The main factors causing uncertainty in these transfers are variable property and tank conditions of density, existence of crust, and surface disturbance due to mixer pump operation during the waste transfer.
