Data Filter Characteristics and Effects

Description: The use of data filters in electronic circuits is normally considered undesirable because filtering irretrievably eliminates desirable as well as undesirable information. Filtering is necessary in some applications, however, to obtain any useful information from measurements made in high-noise and distorted environments and from FM tape-recording and carrier-frequency-type systems. This memorandum discusses related theory and special filter characteristics necessary for retaining the maximum useful information in a filtered signal, depending upon whether the desired data are periodic or transient in nature.

Design and Operating Experience of the ESADA Vallecitos Experimental Superheat Reactor (EVESR)

Description: Summary: "The various design features significant to superheat are described for the 12-1/2 MW., 960 psig, 1050° F, steam-cooled, low-enriched, annular-fueled, experimental superheat reactor built by the General Electric Company at the Vallecitos Atomic Power Laboratory. Results obtained during the first six months of full-power operation, on the emergency cooling system, core thermal performance, and pressure vessel temperatures are presented and compared with predictions. Operating experience with over-all reactor system is also discussed."

Evaluated Neutron Cross Sections for Tritium

Description: From foreword: Evaluation of the experimental data on the light isotopes, hydrogen through beryllium, was initiated by LASL in mid-1963. Since the data compilations available were completely inadequate for the task at hand, the tedious program of compiling and plotting was undertaken. As the work progressed an attempt was made to eliminate many of the obvious errors and inconsistencies found in the literature and existing compilations.
