Construction of a broad-host-range Anderson promoter series and particulate methane monoxygenase promoter variants expand the methanotroph genetic toolbox

Description: This article determined the copy number of three broad-host-range plasmids in Methylococcus capsulatus Bath and Methylosinus trichosporium OB3b, representing phylogenetically diverse Gammaproteobacterial and Alphaproteobacterial methanotrophs, respectively. The authors mutagenized the native M. Capsulatus particulate methane monooxygenase promoter and identified variants with activity that expand the activity range of synthetic, constitutive promotors functional not only in M. capsulatus, but a… more

Similarities in Structure and Function of UDP-Glycosyltransferase Homologs from Human and Plants

Description: In this review article, the authors take a plant UGT homology, UGT71G1, and compare its structural and biochemical properties with the human homologs. The authors claims that these comparisons suggest that even though mammalian and plant UGTs are functional in different environments, they may support similar biochemical activities based on their protein structure and function.

Hierarchical Cache-Aided Networks for Linear Function Retrieval

Description: In this article the authors consider the linear function retrieval problem, i. e., each user requests a linear combination of files, which includes single file retrieval as a special case. The authors propose a new scheme that reduces the transmission load of the first hop by jointly utilizing the two layers' cache memories and they show that their scheme achieves the optimal load for the second hop in some cases.
