Evolution of microstructure and mechanical properties in gas tungsten arc welded dual-phase Fe50Mn30Co10Cr10 high entropy alloy

Description: Article describes how in recent years, high entropy alloys (HEAs) have been shown to be promising alternatives to common engineering alloys, depending on their composition and thermomechanical processing. In the present work, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) was used to achieve defect-free joints based on a novel transformation induced plasticity (TRIP) Fe50Mn30Co10Cr10 HEA.

Inkjet-printed graphene’s electrical response to external gas flow for sensing applications

Description: Article discusses how understanding gas flow behavior is crucial in the ability of materials to sense toxic gasses for environmental, industrial, safety, agriculture, and related applications. In their study, the authors measure the electrical transport characteristics of ink jet printed graphene to incoming gas flow, specifically to N2 and CO2. This work serves as a prototypical platform to study the device characteristics of solution processed graphene and other 2D materials for more exotic g… more

Stability and degradation in triple cation and methyl ammonium lead iodide perovskite solar cells mediated via Au and Ag electrodes

Description: Article focuses on the fact that there are no clear mechanisms for the interaction of electrode-induced absorber degradation pathways. Furthermore, the authors hypothesize that the formation of AgI in the PSCs, leads to corrosion of the perovskite absorber, as opposed to the benign AuI when Au electrodes are used in the solar cell stack.

A Phosphonic Functionalized Biopolymer for the Sorption of Lanthanum (III) and Application in the Recovery of Rare Earth Elements

Description: Authors of the article state that in the first step of their experiment, the sorption was investigated using La(III) ions before testing for the recovery of rare earth elements (REEs) from pretreated industrial acidic leachate. They infer that phosphonate groups participate in the sorption, and that the most effective sorption is at pH = 4.
