Seeing plants as never before

Description: Authors of the article assert that imaging has long supported our ability to understand the inner life of plants, their development, and response to a dynamic environment. The purpose of this review was to provide the scientific community with an overview of current imaging methods, which rely variously on either nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), mass spectrometry (MS) or infrared (IR) spectroscopy, and to present some examples of their application in order to illustrate their utility.

A lipidomics platform to analyze the fatty acid compositions of non-polar and polar lipid molecular species from plant tissues: Examples from developing seeds and seedlings of pennycress (Thlaspi arvense)

Substrate Specificity of LACCASE8 Facilitates Polymerization of Caffeyl Alcohol for C-Lignin Biosynthesis in the Seed Coat of Cleome hassleriana

Description: This article finds that the transcript profile of the laccase gene ChLAC8 parallels the accumulation of C-lignin during seed coat development. Temperature-sensitive Post-translational Regulation of Plant Omega-3 Fatty-acid Desaturases Is Mediated by the Endoplasmic Reticulum-associated Degradation Pathway

Quadrula apiculata, Specimen #904

Description: One preserved mussel specimen including the right valve only. The specimen exhibits a quadrate shape; moderately thick shell; white internal coloring; brown external coloring; external sculpturing in the form of pustules. Collected in the San Antonio basin. The specimen measures between 0 - 60 mm in length and was assessed to be relatively-recently dead when collected.
