POWER CALIBRATION FOR BSR LOADING 33

Description: BSR Loading 33 consists of an essentially 5 by 6 fuel element array completely reflected by water. It was controlled by means of two boron carbide shim-safety rods and a type 347 stainless steel regulating rod with an 57-mil wall, located as shown in Fig. a. Cyclotron Resonance Heating of a Deuterium Plasma

Description: Abstract: "The energy gained by a deuterium plasma, from a three megacycle per second radiofrequency field, was studied experimentally. A static magnetic field, in the form of a "mirror", was used. The coil of an rf resonant circuit, placed at the center of the machine produced a time-varying magnetic field parallel to the static field. FISSION YIELDS OF Sr$sup 9$$sup 0$

Description: Fission yields were determined from 14-Mev neutrons on U/sup 235/ and U/ sup 238/, thermal neutrons on U/sup 235/, and fission spectrum neutrons on U/sup 235/, U/sup 238/, and Pu/sup 239/. The number of fissions was determined for the Mo/sup 99/ activity. The Sr/sup 90/ was chemically separated and Y/sup 90/ allowed to reach equilibrium. The Y/sup 90/ was separated and counted. Flutter and Divergence of Rectangular Wings of Very Low Aspect Ratio

Description: "Slender-body aerodynamic theory is used in conjunction with thin-plate theory in the flutter analysis of low-aspect-ratio rectangular wings of constant thickness when chordwise variations of deflections are considered. The spanwise variation of deflection is given by a parabola, and the chordwise variation is allowed complete freedom. Test Results on a Heater-Cooler Unit for the ORR In-Pile Loop

Description: Tests have been completed on a combination heater-cooler unit for use in in-pile loops designed to operate in beam hole HN-1 of the ORR facility. The unit is designed to use air-water mixtures as the coolant. the coolant flows through a spiral of 3/8-inc. diameter tubing cast in aluminum around the 3/8-in. IPS loop pipe. four 1000-w calrod-type electric heating elements are cast into the aluminum, along with the cooling coils to provide loop heating.
