CloudProteoAnalyzer: scalable processing of big data from proteomics using cloud computing

Theoretical Prediction of Core-Level Binding Energies: Analysis of Unexpected Errors

Description: This article is an analysis of the C(1s) and O(1s) core-level binding energies (CLBEs) of selected molecules computed by means of total energy Hartree-Fock (ΔSCF-HF) differences shows that in some cases, the calculated values for the C(1s) are larger than the experiment, which is unexpected.

Predicting operative time for metabolic and bariatric surgery using machine learning models: a retrospective observational study

Description: This article is aimed to develop machine learning models to predict the operative time for metabolic and bariatric surgery and to compare each model. The authors' findings can be useful in managing the operating room scheduling and in developing software tools to predict the operative times of MBS in clinical settings.

Revisiting decade-old questions in proanthocyanidin biosynthesis: current understanding and new challenges

Description: This article asserts that proanthocyanidins (PAs), one of the most abundant natural polymers found in plants, are gaining increasing attention because of their beneficial effects for agriculture and human health. Scientists raised some compelling questions regarding PA biosynthesis about two decades ago in the hope that addressing these questions would lead to an enhanced understanding of PA biosynthesis in plants and the author of this article seeks to revisit those questions.

Hierarchical Cache-Aided Networks for Linear Function Retrieval

Description: In this article the authors consider the linear function retrieval problem, i. e., each user requests a linear combination of files, which includes single file retrieval as a special case. The authors propose a new scheme that reduces the transmission load of the first hop by jointly utilizing the two layers' cache memories and they show that their scheme achieves the optimal load for the second hop in some cases.
