CAREER: Organic and inorganic carbon metabolism in methanotrophic bacteria

Description: Data management plan for the grant, "CAREER: Organic and inorganic carbon metabolism in methanotrophic bacteria." Evidence shows that the methanotroph Methylococcus capsulatus can uniquely co-utilize CH4 and CO2 as carbon sources, but the underlying metabolism and its regulation is incompletely understood. This project will leverage recently developed methanotroph genetic tools and high throughput CRISPR interference (CRISPRi) functional genetic techniques to further define the role of CO2 and … more

Craft breweries and residential property values

Description: This paper studies the effect of craft breweries on residential property values. Using a hedonic Difference-in-Differences (DID) approach and about 250 thousand housing transactions in Denver, Colorado from 1990 to 2016, the authors investigate the impact of proximity to a craft brewery on residential property values.

Minimizing surface roughness and back wall dross for fiber laser micro-cutting on AISI 316 L tubes using response surface methodology

Description: This article states that a response surface methodology (RSM) was performed to study the influence of spot overlapping and pulse energy on back wall dross and surface roughness for fiber laser cutting of AISI 316 L stainless steel minitubes. The authors' results indicated that back wall dross and dross height reduction is observed when argon gas or compressed air is used through tubes compared with the control test.

The plant cell wall-dynamic, strong, and adaptable-is a natural shapeshifter

Description: In this article the authors cover the evolution of knowledge of the structures, biosynthesis, and functions of the 5 major cell wall polymer types that range from deceptively simple to fiendishly complex. The authors predict the next century of progress will include deciphering cell type–specific wall polymers; regulation at all levels of polymer production, crosslinks, and architecture; and how walls respond to developmental and environmental signals to drive plant success in diverse environme… more

CAREER: Shape Memory Polymers as Biomaterial

Description: Data management plan for the grant, "CAREER: Shape Memory Polymers as Biomaterial." This CAREER projectaimsto elucidate the underlying mechanism of the plasticization-induced shape memory effect of thiol-enebased polymers. The model application for this material will be a heat shrink tubing that can shrink at bodily conditions (37° C and simulated body fluids) and can be used to seal colonic anastomosis. The specific three aims are to (1) Systematically investigate the effect of crosslink-densi… more
