Servo Stabilized RF Vernier Time-of-Flight Analyzer

Description: The analyzer can be operated either internally or externally. The 10 ma germanium discriminator is quiescently biased to 8.5 ma in its low-voltage state. An input signal current of 3.5 ma or more triggers it to its high voltage state. This triggers the oscillator. The oscillator signal is buffered and mixed in the bridge modulator with the reference radiofrequency signal from the cyclotron. The low-frequency beat note from the bridge modulator is squared up and passed to the beat zero univibrat… more

Tables and Graphs for Computing Debye-Waller Factors in Mossbauer Effect Studies

Description: A table of functions is presented that simplifies the evaluation of the Debye-Waller factor which gives the fraction of recoil-free gamma ray processes in Mbssbauer effect studies. A graph of the recoil-free fraction, f, as a function of the ratio of the Debye temperature to the crystal temperature for selected recoil energy to Debye temperature ratios is included for rapid estimation of f. Radiation Effects in Borides, Part II. Fission Sintering of Boride Powders

Description: During the post-irradiation examination of borides it was discovered that the samples which had been irradiated as powders had sintered into firmly bonded bodies. This radiation sintering occurred at temperatures hundreds of degrees below that required to produce similar interparticle bonding by the application of heat alone. , This report discusses the results of the postirradiation examination of some of these borides which were irradiated as powders and compares the results of our observatio… more

Reactor process flow technical data

Description: A computer program is being developed for the solution of general system flow problems. As a complement to this program, a summary of the process system has been prepared. This assembles information from a number of different reports, drawings and technical notebooks into one place for easy use and reference. It is expected that the information contained in this report will be of use in safety and design studies of these process systems. This report presents current values of the reactor flow c… more

Results of Ten Tube Operational Fueling on February 9, 1962

Description: Ten columns of ripe uranium were discharged and recharged from KE Reactor during operation (first large scale refueling test with Operational Fueling Facility gear). For the last year, many tests were performed in preparation for the ten tube discharge. Objectives of the production test have been met. The system was proved to be feasible; no reactor control problems were encountered by refueling during operation.

THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SUMP-TYPE SOLIDIFIED-METAL SEAL

Description: A solidified-metal seal for possible use in moIten-saIt systems was fabricated and tested on a laboratory scale/su The seal consisted of an 80 Au-20 Cu (wt%) sealant alloy in contact with IN0R-8 base metal/su Eleven successive helium-leak-tlght sealings were effected before termination of the test due to a leak in one of the mating parts/su With better control over the heating cycle and slight modifications in seal design, it is expected that the useful life of a seal of this type could be exte… more
