Atomic Bomb Investigation

Description: The following document is a collection of investigative reports on the victims of the atomic bomb in Japan. Information covers injuries, how the victim was found, if they were protected, where they were when the bomb went off, radiation effects, and more.

New Procedures for the Study of Metallic Diffusion

Description: The study of metallic diffusion in the solid state is a matter of determining the concentration of a solid solution as a function of time and temperature.

Cathode Sputtering Problems

Description: The question of the nature and charge of the metallic particles emitted in cathode sputtering has been answered experimentally: the particles are primarily neutral atoms. The proof was obtained from the moving particles themselves by a new "spectroscopic method of vapor pressure measurement" in combination with a "vapor pressure measurement from coating density."

Oxidation of Dioxymaleic Acid in Green Leaf of a Plant

Description: Works of previous researchers showed the presence of certain ferments which oxidize dioxymaleic acid with oxygen from the air in leaves of many plants.

The Chloride of Praseodymium

Description: Praseodymium chloride has been prepared in the form of large green crystals. In order to prepare praseodymium oxide in the pure state, the author precipitated the oxalate from a nitric solution instead of a hydrochloric solution.

The Preparation of Pure Praseodymium Oxide

Description: This article describes the process by which praseodymium oxide can be obtained by fractional crystallization rather than by earlier processes used in developing pure praseodymium.

Size and Form of Particles from Viscosity and Double Refraction of Flow

Description: In the course of recent years numerous investigations have been made concerning the change in the viscosity of a solvent when colloidal or high molecular substances are brought in solution, and with regard to double refraction of flow, which is observed when a gradient of velocity is produced in such a solution. While in the case of viscosity the results obtained had only limigted validity the oblong shape of colloidal particles is generally deducible from the double refraction of flow. In this paper it will be attempted to make quantitative observations of both phenomena.

The Diffusion of the Impurity Elements in Technical Iron into Solid Iron

Description: The diffusion of carbon in solid iron has been the subject of numerous investigations over since the middle of the 19th century. Little has been published on the diffusion of the other technically important impurities present in iron. The purpose of this investigation is to help shed light on diffusion phenomena in iron. The work was performed in 1919 at the Metallurgical Institute of the Technische Hochschule in Breslin
