Hydromagnetic Instabilities Caused by Runaway Electrons

Description: "The possibility of the excitation of hydromagnetic instabilities caused by a beam of runaway electronics is investigated. It is found that if the wave length and frequency of the wave are such that the Doppler shift of the frequency due to the runaways' motion causes the electrons to see their cyclotron frequency, and if the electric field rotates in the same direction as the electrons do about the confining magnetic field, then an instability occurs."

Analysis of Spurious Modes in Magnet Power Supply

Description: "The resonant frequencies of the magnet power supply are investigated. It is found that there are eleven resonant modes in addition to the desired mode of operation with six additional resonant frequencies. From measurements of the choke model, it appears that the frequencies of some of the spurious modes may lie in the same range as the desired mode of operation."

Geology and Uranium Deposits of the Carrizo Mountains Area Apache County, Arizona and San Juan County, New Mexico

Description: Although uranium gas first discovered in the Carrizo Mountains area in 1918, the ores were not developed until 1942. They have, however, been mined continuously since that time. Formations in the area range from the Pernian Cutler through the Cretaceous Mancos shale, and all are intruded by a dioritic laccolith and its related dikes. The older structures, which include the Defiance Uplift, the San Juan Basin, and the Four Corners Platform are somewhat disrupted by the effects of the intrusion. … more

Geology and Uranium Deposits of the Carrizo Mountains Area Apache County, Arizona and San Juan County, New Mexico

Description: From Purpose, Scope, and Methods: The objective of this study was an evaluation of resources of the Carrizo Mountains area. Four factors: distribution of ore bodies, relation of uranium to the host rock, relation of ore to structure, and circumstances that might precipitate uranium were studied in search of data bearing on manner of distribution of ore, the time and causes of deposition, and the probable source of the uranium-bearing solutions.

Zircex Uranium Sublimate Loss

Description: "One of the limitations of the Zircex Process is the large percentage loss of U which is carried off with the volatile ZrCl/sub 4/. Since the ratio of U to Zr in the fuel element is quite small (< 1%), a large percentage of U loss can be caused by small amounts of U in the ZrCl/sub 4/ sublimate. The U loss must be kept below 1% if the Zircex Process is to be adapted to industrial scale processing."

Differential Voltammetry Using The Hanging Mercury Drop Electrode

Description: "The general techniques of voltammetry with continuously varying potential have been applied to a differential method in which two electrolysis cells are used, each with a hanging mercury drop electrode. Using this method it is possible to determine lO/sup -6/ solutions with increased precision, and it is also possible to analyze solutions as dilute as 10/sup -6/ without removing oxygen from the electrolysis cells. Mixtures can be analyzed easily by adding individual components of the mixture t… more
