Table of wavenumbers: Volume 1, 2000 A to 7000 A

Description: From Extension of Tables: "Because of its range and size, this table of wavenumbers is in two volumes, Volume I presenting wavenumbers for all wavelengths between 2000 and 7000 A, and Volume II giving wave-numbers for all wavelengths from 7000 A to 10000000 A=1 mm. In some cases Volume I may suffice for ionic spectra, and in others Volume II may be adequate for molecular spectra, but in general both volumes will needed to cover the entire range of spectral wavelengths measured in standard air."

Irradiation of an Aluminum Alloy-Clad Ceramic Pellet-Fueled Plate

Description: From Introduction: "An experiment, designated MTR-W10, was designed to determine the effects of high burnup on the cladding and fuel of an aluminum-1% nickel alloy (M-388)-clad ceramic pellet-fuelded plate if the type manufactured at Argonne for the BORAX-IV core. Conditions of irradiation were selected to allow local boiling at the high flux end of the plate at a pressure of 600 psig."

Effect of Superheat and Moisture Separation on the SM-2 Design

Description: From abstract: "The study evaluates the utilization of superheat and moisture separation techniques in the SM-2 design to improve the steam plant reliability and thermal efficiency. Ease of packaging, steam plant transient response, and capital costs are also considered. The reference design used for comparison is the steam cycle employing saturated steam at 600 psia described in APAE No. 40, Volume II."

HAZARDS SUMMARY REPORT FOR THE ARMY PACKAGE POWER REACTOR SM-1, TASK XVII

Description: The SM-1 is described and the various hazards are reviewed. Because of the reactor's location near the nation's capital, containment is of the utmost importance. The maximum energy releace in any possible accident is 7.4 million Btu which is completely contained within a 7/8-in.-thick steel cylindrical shell with hemispherical ends. The vapor container is 60 ft high and 32 ft in diameter and is lined on the iside with 2 ft of reinforced concrete which provides missile protection and is part of … more

Use of Silicon Surface-Barrier Counters in Fast-Neutron Detection and Spectroscopy

Description: A neutron-sensitive semiconductor counter was constructed by depositing a thin layer of Li/sup 6/F between two silicon surface-barrier counters. Neutrons are detected by observing the alpha + T pair resulting from the Li/sup 6/(n, alpha )T reaction; pulses from the two counters are added, and the sum pulse is amplified and recorded on a multichannel analyzer. Since the sandwich geometry permits simultaneous detection of both reaction products, the magnitude of the resulting sum pulse is proport… more
