HRT-CP: Results of Solids Dissolution Tests

Description: A dissolution cycle in the chemical plant consists of refluxing with 10.8 M H2SO4 for 4 hours followed by refluxing for a like period with 4 M acid. In each of 3 tests in which 370 gram batches of simulated corrosion product solids were subjected to two dissolution cycles using 820 excess acid more than 99.6 of the solid material was dissolved (based on the amount of undissolved material collected). In another test using one dissolution cycle and 820 excess acid 99.5 of the solids material was … more

Additional Extraction and Ion Exchange Studies of Temple Mountain District Ores

Description: Uranium extraction of 95% has been obtained from samples of Temple Mountain ore by a cyclic test procedure in which the new feed was not roasted. This procedure involved acid leaching the ore, flotation and roasting of the carbonaceous material, and acid leaching the roaster calcine.

Suggested Major Equipment for NPR Water Quality Control Labs

Description: Two water quality control labs are being provided for the the NPR. One, a "cold" lab, is located in the183 Building adjacent to the control room. Its primary purpose is to provide facilities for quality control of the output of the filter plant and the demineralizer plant. The other, a "hot" lab, is located in the 190 Building. Its primary purpose is to provide facilities for the quality control of the primary and secondary coolants, and the moderator coolant.

Process specifications for critical mass control: Purex Plant. Revision No. 2

Description: This document is Revision No. 2 of the ``Process Specifications for Critical Mass Control -- Purex Plant``. It encompasses the changes in flowsheet, equipment and plant operating philosophy that have developed since the plant startup. It supersedes Document HW-44064 (Revision No. 1). Plutonium-239 and uranium-235, either as the metals or as dissolved or solid compounds are capable of spontaneous and violent nuclear reactions. Following initial dissolution of irradiated natural uranium fuel elem… more

Project C-431-A Production Facility design computations on outfall structure 1900-C

Description: Project C-431-A includes the design of the C Water Plant outfall structure. This report documents design assumptions and the design of the spillway, outfall sewers, spillway chute, trash racks, walkways, stop log and trash rack slots, main sewer, and retention sewers. The spillway capacity is to be 268,000 gpm with a crest elevation at 429.0. This flow capacity is composed of flow from the 105-C Retention Basin (80,000 gpm), 105-B Retention Basin (45,000 gpm), and the 190-C Area main sewer (143… more
