Measurements of the chordwise pressure distributions over the wing of the XS-1 research airplane in flight

Description: Report presenting measurements of the chordwise pressure distributions over the 8-percent-thick wing of the XS-1 research airplane at a section near the midspan of the left wing. Data are presented for a Mach number range and a normal-force coefficient of about 0.33. Results regarding the upper-surface pressure distribution, lower-surface pressure distributions, and total section loads are provided.

Measurements of Aileron Effectiveness of the Bell X-1 Airplane at Mach Numbers Between 0.9 and 1.06

Description: "Abrupt rudder-fixed aileron rolls have been made with the Bell X-1 airplane in powered flight at Mach numbers between 0.90 and 1.06 at about 40,000 feet pressure altitude. These aileron rolls indicate that the aileron effectiveness for large deflections at Mach number 0.94 is only one-fourth the value at Mach number 0.82, and the effectiveness at Mach number 1.06 is slightly greater than at Mach number 0.94" (p. 1).

Description: From Summary: "Free-flight tests have been conducted with small equivalent bodies of revolution representing different versions of the Douglas XF4D-1 airplane to determine the reduction in drag that would result from various modifications to the airplane. Results indicated that, at Mach numbers greater than 1, considerable reduction in drag would result from a thinner wing and tail, a reduction in wing-fillet thickness, and modified forward and rearward fuselage lines."

Description: During this period, we focused our attention in analyzing the magnetic nature of the extensively used trimetallic catalyst system Cu-Co-Cr for the production of higher alcohols. Both the morphology and metallic charge distribution of the particles are known to govern the catalytic as well as the magnetic properties of the system.

Experimental and evaluated nuclear plus interference cross sections for light charged particles

Description: Experimental and evaluated integral parameters derived from nuclear plus interference differential elastic scattering cross sections are presented for all projectile/target combinations of the particles p, d, t, /sup 3/He, and ..cap alpha...
