Involvement in Admission to Two Homes for the Aged

Description: The study reported in the thesis attempted to examine the decision-making process for the institutionalization of older people in homes for the aged. More specifically, it sought to determine who was responsible for the decisions, to discover if this responsibility was related to selected social factors, and to ascertain if it affected the adjustment of older people to the institutional setting.

The Naturalistic Technique of John O'Hara

Description: Carl Schurz, appearing on the American political stage during a period of great change, felt the influence of human events as he formulated his political thinking. He also was affected by his German birth, education, and revolutionary activity before his immigration to the United States. Indeed, it appears that much of his political thought was reaction to existing circumstances or events rather than pure contemplative thinking.

A Study of Asymmetric Syntheses in Coordination Chemistry

Description: Since only one example of an asymmetric synthesis which involved an intermediate containing an optically active ligand has been reported, two questions immediately arise: "Is this type of asymmetric synthesis an isolated example, or is it a stepping stone toward a generalized trend for Co (III) which may be extended to include levo rotatory, as well as dextro rotatory molecules?" In addition, asymmetric synthesis affords a new avenue for synthesizing resolved neutral complexes.
