Retelling of Udoi and Liendoi
Description:
Hakthoi Phuoitong, a male speaker from North Cachar Hills in Assam (currently living in Zion Village, Haflong) tells the traditional story Udoi leh Liendoi. In this story, the orphans Udoi and Liendoi are hated by the rest of the village, but when the goddess Fapite visits, she chooses to stay with them. Fatipe shows the orphans how to find food in the forest. Hakthoi is 64 at the time of recording, and also speaks Bengali.
