Under Erebus

Description: Recording of Chris Cree Brown's Under Erebus. The composer traveled to Antarctica as part of the Artists to Antarctica program in 1999. While there, he recorded various sounds, many of which are included in this piece. The work is an attempt to create an expressive work of "sonic art" that reflects the composers personal interpretation of the environment in Antarctica. Some of the sounds included are: walking on snow, polar wind, radio communications, Weddell seals, and an Adele penguin rookery. more

Description: Recording of Frances White's Centre Bridge (dark river). This work was commissioned by the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra for a concert of chamber music by women composers. The tape part is dominated by the recorded sounds of the Delaware River, while the instrumentals play over top. The title of the piece comes from the name of a bridge that crosses the Delaware river.

In Die Resurrectionis

Description: Recording of Luigi Ceccarelli's In Die Resurrectionis. This is an electro-acoustic installation for the basilica of San Vitale inspired by the 12th century sacred musical tradition of Ravenna. This work was commissioned by the Ravenna Festival. The composer describes this work as his exploration of the relationship between music and spirituality, using Gregorian chant and traditional choral music to emphasize this.
