Hake

Description: Recording of Armeno Alberts' Hake. The title refers to singing in traditional Javanese music, meaning a cry of joy. The work was entirely composed on the UPIC system, exploiting in particular the possibilities of tuning with the frequency tables. I also used frequency modulation to give an "orchestral" aspect to the sound. Many waveforms were taken from samples of gamelan orchestra instruments. The tape can be played alone or with a score for four gamelan instrumentalists.

Para Bla

Description: Recording of Enrique Belloc's Para Bla. This work is dedicated to the composer's daughter, Barbara. This composition does not intend to transcribe the spirit of poetry into musical discourse, but rather to pay homage to the creative nature of the writer. The work offers both, and in a veiled way, the use of a certain rhythmic gesticulation specific to techno music and the use of pitch as a type of sound material, without letting it appear for so much the notion of tonality.

LZY

Description: Recording of Valeriĭ Belunt͡sov's LZY. The Polish word Lzy means "tears" and at the same time identical to the articulation of sobbing pronounced with breath. Stages

Description: Recording of Daniel Bernstein's Stages. The entire composition can be understood as a single cycle of a pendulum swing. The pendulum is released in the beginning of the piece. The first and third movements were realized on MIDI synthesizers, the remixed digitally on the NeXT computer. The second section was programmed digitally on the NeXT computer, using live acoustic sounds in conjunction with, Paul Lansky's real-time mixing program rt.

Tavola IV

This work is one of a series of pieces called Tavole where timbre and dynamic possibilities of music instruments were studied. The organization of the piece is developed by starting from a single note.
