Interferometric SAR phase difference calibration: Methods and results

Description: This paper addresses the steps necessary to determine and maintain the phase calibration of a two-channel interferometric synthetic aperture radar (IFSAR). The method, setup, and accuracy of four different calibration techniques are compared. The most novel technique involves pointing the interferometric baseline at nadir and imaging a lake surface. Digitally controlled distributed phase shifter

Description: A digitally controlled distributed phase shifter is comprised of N phase shifters. Digital control is achieved by using N binary length-weighted electrodes located on the top surface of a waveguide. A control terminal is attached to each electrode thereby allowing the application of a control signal. The control signal is either one of two discrete bias voltages. Phase-sensitive flow cytometer

Description: This report describes phase-sensitive flow cytometer (FCM) which provides additional FCM capability to use the fluorescence lifetime of one or more fluorochromes bound to single cells to provide additional information regarding the cells. The resulting fluorescence emission can be resolved into individual fluorescence signals if two fluorochromes are present or can be converted directly to a decay lifetime from a single fluorochrome. Multichannel wave interferometry

Description: The analysis of multichannel wave interferometry for a variety of density profiles reveals that the phase shift as a function of horn position normalized to that through the center of the plasma, is relatively insensitive to K = n/sub o//n/sub c/ (the ratio of maximum density to cutoff density) when refraction effects are minimized. Thus, this ratio may be easily inverted to obtain a reasonably accurate measurement of the density profile even for values of K approaching 1.

Hadron interactions

Description: In this talk I am reviewing recent calculations of properties of multi-hadron systems in lattice QCD. In particular, I am reviewing results of elastic scattering phase shifts in meson-meson, meson-baryon and baryon-baryon systems, as well as discussing results indicating possible existence of bound states in two baryon systems. Finally, calculations of properties of systems with more than two hadrons are presented.

Equation of State, Occupation Probabilities and Conductivities in the Average Atom Purgatorio Code

Description: We report on recent developments with the Purgatorio code, a new implementation of Liberman's Inferno model. This fully relativistic average atom code uses phase shift tracking and an efficient refinement scheme to provide an accurate description of continuum states. The resulting equations of state accurately represent the atomic shell-related features which are absent in Thomas-Fermi-based approaches. Photon acceleration via laser-produced ionization fronts

Description: Microwave radiation has been upshifted in frequency and compressed in duration by more than a factor of five via its interaction with a relativistically propagating, underdense ionization front. The experimental observations are in good agreement with theoretical predictions.

Determination of the Nucleon-Nucleon Elastic Scattering Matrix : I. Phase Shift Analysis of Experiments Near 140 MEV

Description: A phase shift analysis is an attempt to translate experimental measurements (observables) into well-determined scattering amplitudes, since these are the quantities that can be readily compared with theoretical predictions, In this sense, the phase shift analysis should contain as little theory as possible. Relativistic charge form factor of the deuteron

Description: Relativistic integral representation in terms of experimental neutron-proton scattering phase shifts alone is used to compute the charge form factor of the deuteron G{sub Cd}(Q{sup 2}). Fiber Optic Calorimetry

Description: A twin-bridge calorimeter using optical fiber as the sensor element was constructed and tested. This system demonstrates the principle and capability of using optical fibers for heat-flow measurements of special nuclear material.
