Oxide cathode lifetime improvements at RTNS-II

Description: Results are reported for an ongoing effort to optimize D/sup +/ beam production by the MATS-III ion source used at the RTNS-II. The oxide cathode assembly originally designed for lower power operation has been modified and redesigned for higher electron current yield, longer life and serviceability. Chemical Processing Technology Quarterly Progress Report, January-March 1962

Description: The processing of Al fuel, principally of the MTR-ETR type, is reported. Processing rate averaged 90% of flow sheet values for the entire operating period, and a U recovery of 99.85% was achieved. Aqueous Zr fuel processing studles continued with the objective of adapting the HF process to continuous dissolution-complexing in order to increase the capacity of the ICPP process while using as much existing equipment as possible to minimize costs. Description: In this paper, a quasipotential approach along with conformal mapping is used to model the diffusion media of a polymer-electrolyte fuel cell. Quarterly progress report for Q2 FY06 for Complex Transient Events in Materials Studied Using Ultrafast Electron Probes and Terascale Simulation (FWP SCW0289)

Description: In this quarter (Q2 FY06), the DTEM underwent a substantial reconfiguration of its laser systems. The cathode laser system was changed to provide greater numbers of electrons per pulse by lengthening the time duration of the pulse to 30 ns. Ferroelectric Cathodes in Transverse Magnetic Fields

Description: Experimental investigations of a planar ferroelectric cathode in a transverse magnetic field up to 3 kGs are presented. It is shown that the transverse magnetic field affects differently the operation of ferroelectric plasma cathodes in ''bright'' and ''dark'' modes in vacuum. Simulation, Generation, and Characterization of High Brightness Electron Source at 1 GV/m Gradient.

Description: This paper describes computer simulations and measurements on an electron bunch from a pulsed, high gradient gap. MAFIA and PBGUNS were used to calculate the emittance, brightness and energy spread of the electron beam for peak currents ranging from 10A to 1 kA and pulse durations ranging from 0.3 ps to 10 ps.
