The Stoneflies (Plecoptera) of Oklahoma

Description: Distributional data and taxonomic keys art presented for thirty-four species of Plecoptera known to occur in Oklahoma. Ten species are new records for the state. Descriptions are provided for two species new to science, Zealeuctra cherokee and Isoperla brevis, and for the previously unknown male of Strophopteryx cucullata Frison and female of Helopicus nalatus (Frison).

Biochemical Genetics of Certain Species of the Blackbird Family Icteridae

Description: Starch gel electrophoresis was used to compare 14 proteins encoded by 15 loci for seven species of the family Icteridae. A close genetic relationship among these species was classified into three groups. The Agelaiine group contained Agelaius phoeniceus, Sturnella magna, and S. neglecta. Description: Aryl hydrocarbon hydroxylase activity was studied in cultured human lymphocytes using 3-methylcholanthrene, 1,2- benzanthracene, and 4'-bromoflavone as inducers. The substrates used to run the 60 minute assay were benzo(α)pyrene and diphenyloxazole. Riparian Forest Width and the Avian Community in a Greenbelt Corridor Setting

Utilization of Corridor Habitat by White-tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus) in Denton County, Texas

Description: White-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) (N=15) movements were determined with use of radio telemetry techniques to determine the utilization of corridor habitat on the Lake Ray Roberts Greenbelt Corridor (RRGC) in north central Texas. Description: A new procedure has been developed to concentrate the phosphofructokinase from muscle of Ascaris suum with minimum loss of activity. By utilizing this method, 50 ml fraction was concentrated to a final volume of 3 ml in about 1.5 h without loss in enzyme activity. The concentrated enzyme had a specific activity of 64 units per mg. Circulatory and Respiratory Responses to Cycle Ergometry at Different Pedal Rates

Description: The effects of moderate workload exercise at different pedal rates on circulatory and respiratory parameters were studied. Five subjects performed seven discontinuous constant-load cycle ergometer tests of 30 minutes duration at pedal rates of 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 and 100 rpm. Drumming Behavior of Selected North American Stoneflies (Plecoptera)

Description: Drumming is first described for five North American stonefly species, Acroneuria evoluta, Doroneuria baumanni, Isoperla namata, Chernokrilus misnomus, and Pictetiella expansa. Signals of Acroneuria lycorias, Phasganophora capitata and Isoperla signata are further described. Drumming was not recorded from Amhinemura delosa.
